Weekend with Family

Getting the phone call that Mom was diagnosed with cancer was surreal. As I sat there realizing the words that were just spoken to me I was frozen not knowing what to do. My first reaction was wanting to drive up to Morgan to go see her. To hug her and let her know how much I loved her. To be with the family and feel the peace and comfort that comes from the loving bond we all share. Sara's family and Amanda dropped everything and were able to be down there the evening we all found out. We had to wait a couple days due to school and work. But when the time came it was wonderful to be home with all of us who were able to be there. We enjoyed one another's company. We laughed, we cried, we cleaned, we cooked, we played, and we had fun. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

As Mom said earlier Sunday, November 13, 2011 was a special day. How grateful we are to the many people who fasted and prayed for Mom that weekend. We could feel the prayers of faith. It really was a wonderful spiritual experience. How blessed we are to have the priesthood of God restored. Mom was given a beautiful blessing that gave us all great comfort and peace. The title of this blog came because these were words spoken to her. Be of good cheer. And who better to be of good cheer than Sherie Wright. When faced with a challenge like this in their way some would be discouraged, down trodden, wallowing in self-pity, etc. But not Mom she is a strong lady willing to submit to the will of our Father in Heaven. A lady who instead of worrying about the trials in her life is asking how others are doing and asking what she can do for them. A lady whose testimony is stalwart and strong; who through this will surely bring others closer to Christ. How blessed we are to have her as our mother.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is true. The priesthood is restored. Our Father in Heaven loves us more than we can ever know. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, is mindful of our pains, trials, and infirmities, and He know's how to succor us and lift us up. He lives and loves us. I testify that families can be forever through the temple. How grateful we are for our family and for all the many people whose faith and prayers have buoyed us up so far. In the words of my dear, sweet Michael, "It's ok because the church is true." How true those words are and how grateful I am for the gospel. Love you Mom and Dad if I had, had the opportunity to design my in-laws I could not have done this well. You are simply amazing and I love you!
